Mount Kilimanjaro day hike If you're unsure about committing to a full Kilimanjaro adventure, our Marangu route offers shorter trips that provide a comprehensive experience. These expeditions, lasting just one or two days, allow you to gain an understanding of what it's like to trek on Kilimanjaro.
These trips are particularly suitable if you're traveling with children who aren't ready for the complete hike or if your holiday is brief but you still want to enjoy the experience. During these hikes, you'll reach the lower camps of Kilimanjaro, explore untouched tropical wilderness, and witness breathtaking landscapes.
The Marangu route, which was taken by the first Kilimanjaro explorers, is also home to black-and-white colobuses that inhabit the trees along the trail.

For a one-day Kilimanjaro trip, you'll ascend to Mandara Hut and return to the entry gate. The two-day option offers a more immersive journey, including an overnight stay at Mandara Hut, followed by a hike to Horombo Hut Camp or Maundi Crater. Overall, these trips provide a short yet captivating adventure that combines wildlife encounters with local culture.

1-Day To Kilimanjaro Day Hike Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrival in Arusha
You will be picked up from the airport by a Kanje representative and conveyed to your accommodation in Arusha. Here you will overnight, relax, and prepare in anticipation of the adventures to come. You'll stay at Arusha Planet Lodge that is an oasis of calm and aesthetic pleasure.
Day 2 - Arusha Marangu Gate
In the morning, our guides will meet you at the hotel for a quick briefing. From there, we'll head to Kilimanjaro National Park's eastern entrance, Marangu Gate, at an altitude of 1,860 m (6,046 ft). After completing the necessary formalities like obtaining climbing permits and registering with the rescue service, we'll begin trekking towards Mandara Hut at 2,700 m (8,858 ft). During this trek, we'll pass through a rainforest where you might encounter tropical showers, so don't forget to bring raincoats.

Upon reaching the camp, you'll be provided with lunch boxes. After lunch, you can take a short hike to the stunning Maundi Crater nearby, which takes about 30 minutes. Following the hike, we'll begin the descent back to the park exit, Marangu Gate. There, our driver will be waiting to transfer you to your hotel in Arusha town.
